Somalia has one of the longest coastlines in Africa, lined with white-sand beaches and fishing towns that see very few outside visitors due to decades of instability. In the north, the breakaway region of Somaliland is comparatively calm and holds Laas Geel, a set of remarkably well-preserved rock art painted thousands of years ago. Traditional nomadic pastoral culture, built around camel herding and poetry, still shapes daily life across much of the country. Conventional tourism remains extremely limited, and travel requires serious planning and caution.
