Tuvalu is one of the smallest and most remote nations on earth, a chain of low coral atolls in the Pacific where the highest point barely clears sea level. Life on the main atoll of Funafuti moves around a single runway that doubles as the community's gathering space between flights. There's little in the way of conventional tourism infrastructure, but for those who reach it, the appeal is total isolation, clear lagoons and a Polynesian culture still centered on communal life.
