St. Pierre & Miquelon

St. Pierre and Miquelon are a small cluster of French islands off the coast of Newfoundland, an outpost of France in North America that few travelers even know exists. Fog rolls in often over the fishing harbor, brightly painted houses, and narrow streets of St. Pierre, which still feels distinctly French in its bakeries, language, and pace of life. Miquelon is quieter still, with windswept dunes and a small population. It's a low-key, curious destination for anyone drawn to out-of-the-way corners of the map.
