• Photography is restricted — cameras with a lens over 200mm are forbidden, and you cannot take photos wherever you like, including in markets or of soldiers , unless a guide explicitly permits it.
• Don't photograph soldiers without permission: being prohibited from photographing soldiers is not unique to North Korea, and if no one has authorized it, you shouldn't do it, though at the DMZ photos with soldiers are allowed when you're told you may .
• Bringing certain reading material, media, or unauthorized guides is prohibited, and any political discussion with locals should be avoided out of respect and to protect your guides from repercussions.
