Faroe Islands

The Faroe Islands are eighteen dramatic volcanic islands rising straight out of the North Atlantic, laced with sheer sea cliffs, waterfalls that blow sideways in the wind, and impossibly green, sheep-dotted hillsides. Villages of black-and-white houses with turf roofs sit tucked into narrow fjords, connected by tunnels bored through the mountains. Hikes lead to places like the cliffside lake of Sørvágsvatn or the sea stacks of Drangarnir. Weather changes by the hour, and the islands feel remote and wild despite being a short flight from mainland Europe.
